Analysis: Obama, he had us at 'Shalom'

He had us at the word “Shalom," US President Barack Obama did on the tamarack at Ben-Gurion Airport.
Or if not at “Shalom," then 33 words later when he said in Hebrew, “tov lihiyot shuv ba’aretz” (It is good to be back in Israel). And if not then, well at least at the end of his brief welcoming speech when he said “I’m confident in declaring that our alliance is eternal, it is forever – lanetzach.”
Again, he used Hebrew. We swooned
And if he did not have us all, at least he had some of the country’s media stars broadcasting from the airport who gushed superlatives as Air Force One was seen entering Israeli airspace, tracked as if it was an Apollo flight re-entering the earth’s orbit. As Irit Linor said on Army Radio, talking about what she deemed the over-the-top Obama Madness that gripped the nation, if this is the way the country greeted Obama, what’s left to greet the Messiah. full article: http://www.jpost.com/Diplomacy-and-Politics/Analysis-Obama-finally-showing-the-love-307149

Obama: 'It's good to be in Israel again'

US president arrives in Israel on Air Force 1; receives warm welcome from President Peres, PM Netanyahu. Peres: 'Welcome home, Mr. President'; Netanyahu: 'Thank you for standing by Israel'
.............................................................................................

I’m so honored to be here as you prepare to celebrate the 65th anniversary of a free and independent State of Israel. Yet I know that in stepping foot on this land, I walk with you on the historic homeland of the Jewish people.

More than 3,000 years ago, the Jewish people lived here, tended the land here, prayed to God here. And after centuries of exile and persecution, unparalleled in the history of man, the founding of the Jewish State of Israel was a rebirth, a redemption unlike any in history.

Today, the sons of Abraham and the daughters of Sarah are fulfilling the dream of the ages -- to be "masters of their own fate" in "their own sovereign state." read full article: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4358731,00.html

Earth gets a rush of weekend asteroid visitors

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., March 9 - An asteroid as big as a city block shot relatively close by the Earth on Saturday, the latest in a series of visiting celestial objects including an asteroid the size of a bus that exploded over Russia last month, injuring 1,500.

Discovered just six days ago, the 460-foot long (140-meter) Asteroid 2013 ET passed about 600,000 miles from Earth at 3:30 p.m. EST. That's about 2-1/2 times as far as the moon, fairly close on a cosmic yardstick.

"The scary part of this one is that it's something we didn't even know about," Patrick Paolucci, president of Slooh Space Camera, said during a webcast featuring live images of the asteroid from a telescope in the Canary Islands. read full article: http://news.yahoo.com/earth-gets-rush-weekend-asteroid-visitors-001945056.html
